Case and pallet labels

Print every case and pallet label from the lot itself.

PTI case labels with a GS1-128 barcode and the voice pick code for your buyers, and pallet labels that tell your own crew which lot is on every pallet.

In CloPro and CloTrace

Today

Case labels come from a separate label program with the lot typed in by hand, and pallets get a handwritten sheet no one can scan.

With Clovero

Pick the lot and Clovero lays out its PTI case label, from the GS1-128 barcode to the voice pick code. For pallets, print a basic label with the product and lot in big print, or give each pallet its own number on a 4×6 label that scans back to the lot.

  • PTI’s voice pick code, worked out from the GTIN and lot
  • A barcode sized to PTI’s minimums for handheld or conveyor scanners
  • 4×2, 4×3, 6×3 or 6×4 case labels: Clovero picks one that fits, or you do
  • Your SKU on every case label; a retail UPC or EAN barcode and Digital Link QR from 4×3 up
  • Basic 4×6 pallet labels: the product and lot code in big print, with a QR code to the lot
  • SSCCs on pallets when a customer asks for them, once you add your GS1 Company Prefix

On the case and on the pallet

  • The case barcode

The GTIN and lot in a GS1-128 barcode, with the pack date too if you choose, and the same numbers printed under it.

  • The voice pick code

Four digits from the GTIN and lot, in the lower right corner with the last two printed large.

  • Where it came from

Your company’s name, city, state and ZIP, the pack date and where it was grown.

  • Big print for the warehouse

A basic pallet label shows the product and lot code as large as they fit, the lot’s QR code, and which pallet of the run it is. The pack date prints when the lot has one.

  • A number for every pallet

Or give each pallet its own number, PLT-000001 and up. Scan its label to see its lot and its place in the run.

  • Labels at every step

Print case or basic pallet labels right after a pack, case labels at receiving or after a repack, and any lot’s pallet labels from Inventory.

Questions before your demo.

Does FSMA 204 require case labels?

No. The FDA says the rule doesn’t require the traceability lot code on food labels or packaging (FAQ TTLC.3). The PTI label is a voluntary industry format that many buyers ask for.

Do I need GS1 barcodes?

For a PTI label, yes: its GTIN comes from a GS1 Company Prefix licensed to the brand owner. Clovero can build the case GTIN from the UPC you already use, and prints case labels once the brand owner confirms the prefix is theirs.

Are the pallet labels SSCC labels?

Only if you want them to be. A basic pallet label carries the product, the lot code and a QR code to the lot. A numbered pallet label gives each pallet an internal pallet ID, like PLT-000001, for tracking inside your business, and says it isn’t a GS1 SSCC. When a customer asks for SSCCs, add the GS1 Company Prefix you license, and new pallets get SSCCs with GS1-128 barcodes.

What if a pallet is labeled by mistake?

Void it and take its labels off. Its number is never used again. To move cases to another pallet, void the pallet and number its cases again.

What about products without a GTIN?

Print an internal lot label with a QR code and the lot’s pick code, or basic pallet labels in big print. They’re for your own warehouse, not PTI labels.

Which label printers does it work with?

Clovero makes a PDF sized for 203 dpi thermal label printers: 4×2, 4×3, 6×3 or 6×4 case labels and 4×6 pallet labels. We’ll print a test label on yours during setup.
